A discovery always feels great, doesn't it?
« on: July 10, 2007, 01:53:06 am »
The wife and I were in the mood for some pasta tonight, but our options are quite limited in this area. After considering a trip on the freeway into the city, we remembered that there was this little pizza place down the road that we've never tried. I grew up just a couple of miles from this place, but for some reason had never stepped inside. Upon arriving, it looked busy, and it smelled great on the outside. We stepped in and I immediately was attracted to the decor. They had a jukebox and a ton of vinyl records and covers all over the walls.

Just next to the order window, however, was what will definitely bring me back. There was a Flash Gordon pinball machine in good shape, an Area 51 cabinet, and an original Asteroids! The game was in great shape and played like a dream. After dropping a quarter into the Flash Gordon and earning 3(!) free games, I sat down and scarfed my Calzone before making my way to the Asteroids. It was really in great shape. On the first play I managed to get my initials into the fourth position and on my second (and final) try I secured the number 2 spot. My score came in at about half the top score...so I gotta get back and sink a few more quarters into the machine to take that spot.

It was pretty surprising to see an Asteroids still on location making money. The machine has probably been there all its life or for a good part of it. I had to ask if it was for sale and the guy working there just shook his head and said, "sorry, man, it's been a customer favorite for as long as I can remember."

A lot of little joints like that will have really old cabs in them.  It's use of dead space and ops love them because they consider it free storage.  Even if the cab only pulls in $20/week, it's stored in a safe place, and that's worth money.

I think I need to find a pizza forum.  That part of the story is more exciting to me than the Asteroids.   ;D

GiGi's bacon cheese pizza. They make the best one around. I'm salivating now.

Just out of curiousity. Do you "boot" up and down, side to side or just float around when your hunting down the little 1000 ship. I loved racing upward with 1 medium sized rock left just in case it collided. I'd still have a small rock left to continue racking up the score.

Hey guys, I'm kinda new to pizza, and I wasn't really around for the pizza "glory days." It's too bad that pizza parlors have been in the decline, but I plan on having a home pizza room!  ;D

It's so stupid that PIZZADEV won't provide tin foil with your pizza order to save your eating progress. I know that you can add your own foil, but I'm not very experienced in that regard.

Is it OK if I emulate the toppings I own legitimate copies of?  I don't want to leave the original pepperoni or olives out in the air long enough to appreciate them.  I would rather just eat the emulated ones.  I suppose it also depends on whether or not I am charging others to consume the emulated toppings.

I am also wondering what is the best tool for cutting pizza, if I run the pizza cutter backward will it be less likely to tear the crust?

Hey guys,

I've decided to quit my job and start up a custom pizza crust business. I was just wondering what I should charge my customers for the basic crust. I am also set up to do full finished pizza's including all the toppings.

I know this is a byop site, but I'm sure there are plenty of people here that would rather save the time and buy one already built. Let me know what you think!

Here's my website:

make a standard 1 player crust.  if they want a 2 or 4 player crust, charge them more, because that's going to mean more toppings.

See...the Nazi card only has power when wielded by 'the one'...

How many toppings do most people put on theirs?  I was thinking of a dedicated pizza...but I don't know what to put on it.

Do most people use templates??

It's got to be illegal right?  I'd be pissed if I bought that only to find out later it's a fake.

^^^^ the pieces are all over, and there's some bad toppings.  That is definitely a hot mess, the track egg is off center.  See if DM can do a group buy on toppings, or does anyone have any NOS pizza marquees?

How has this thread avoided being moved to arcade misc or EE.  ;D

Personally, I think a link should be put on the news page.  ;)

Can someone provide a list of all movies that have pizzas in them?

I already alluded to one of them in a previous post. Here is another:

Can you use tokens or do you have to use quarters to play pizza?

Pizza the hut approves of this.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure I think had pizza in it.

Here's a good place to start. http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=pizza
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Does anyone know where I can get some tokens for my pizza room?

I'm thinking on one side have a classic...like Pepperoni...and maybe a Hawaiian on the back...any thoughts?

I have a vintage sausage and mushroom pizza with only a couple missing slices and a slight oder of cat pee.  How much is it worth?

Did you hear they ported pizza to the Atari 2600?  Do I have to use a digital or analog stick with pizza?  Anyone use a spinner or trackball with it?

My pizza oven is in need of a new cap kit.  I tried to open it up, but got a nasty shock.  How do I discharge my pizza oven?  Is it enough to just leave it unplugged overnight?
