mala and game info
« on: July 03, 2007, 06:59:31 pm »
Ok ive a bit of a dumbass problem here...
When starting a rom in mala the mame game info box appears just after the decoding. I have checked the box in mame to skip game info and it does just that... but only when i boot the rom from mame when i boot it from mala i get the game info box up again. Is there an option in mala im missing here?

How do you boot from mame?  Do you mean the evil mame32?

As long as you are using mala, you will not touch commandline.  That is the beauty of mala, it turns mame into a gui controlled emulator.  Using mame32 will probably make it harder on you than regular mame.  Just look for the mala install document, I think it is on the wiki, and follow it step by step.

I think i see my error now...i have been using multiple mames in mala for eg a seperate mame for capcom, snk, taito etc... i am a serial dumbass and i realize now there are better ways of seperating gameslists/layouts but this method seems to work for me fairly well, it would seem that because im using this method i cannot accsess changes in the mame ini files because theres no option for ini on the other emulator config menu  :banghead: i keep confusing myself  :banghead:

If you ever get around to understanding the mame.ini, you may be interested in the ini sub-folder under the mame folder.  Individual games can have their own ini files in this sub-folder that take precedence over the mame.ini.  They have the same format as mame.ini, but they have the same name as the rom.  Comes in real handy when you want to restore save states on game start for those that have a long and unsightly boot process.  Also allows you to tweak settings for those games that are too slow (Cruis'n USA, for example).
