I finished my portion of this cabinet last year and shipped it to my mom in Utah.  She finally got around to adding the side art last week.  My parents own a sign business so it's easy for them to print.  She also says she is going to add her game room logo above Boop on the right side but I'm not holding my breath.  I think I also add some more emulators to the cabinet when I visit at Christmas.
It was originally a Taito cabinet.  It's running Mame under Mamewah.  Penny & Giles trackball, GGG 4/8 way retro and lighted buttons.
Now if I can just get myself to do my own cabinet I'll be set  :P

Wow! That is a beautiful custom cabinet. I love everything about it. The integration of the switchable joystick is awesome! I'm sure there would be plenty of happy people on here if you had a jig drawing for  the cutout.

Thanks for the compliments.  I actually took the joystick apart and used the base plate as my jig to route the slot.  Very very slow with my dremel and router attachment.

Really good looking cab.   All the artwork just seems to be right on.  The graphics on the control panel really make it stand out.

curious as to how you lit up the buttons.. I am about to build my cp and have 100 leds which I have soldered the proper resistor on for a 5v power source. Just wondering how you installed the leds to light the buttons. They look like they are lit very well and evenly. Thanks much very beautiful build.

Yep it is.  It's a piece of the same chrome they used on the bar in the gameroom.  It's a 50s diner style gameroom.  Luckily they had a few extra feet of it.

I used 2 superbright LEDs per button.  I drilled straight into the pushbutton nut on each side and hot glued them in after the buttons were in place.  A bit inconvenient becaue now the buttons would have be turned to get them out but I don't expect that'll happen any time soon (if ever).  And I do have them running off of the PC power supply as well.  I chose to face the lights in because I don't like the lights shining straight up through the button, it's very distracting (blinding) if you lean forward on a CP playing.  I'm basing this on a friend that did just that.

That's just as well. My mom doesn't even know what a jpg is and always asks me to bring my PS2 every Christmas so she can get in a round of GTA:VC.

My mom is mostly a Nintendo fan.  N64 and Wii.  Though she really likes Guitar Hero too.  I think she'll convert over to the 360 if the next Banjo Kazooie is as good as the prevous.
I think I'll add NES, SNES, Genny and SMS emulators to the cabinet when I visit.  That should make it much more fun.
