Mala Help with settings
« on: May 15, 2007, 04:59:06 pm »
Ive tried looking for an answer to this but all ive found is how to disable the dosesq dialog box.  How do i disbale the "starting" dialog box that pops up when you load a game?  i figured i would try to color it black to the match the background but then it turned itself white but that could be an error on my part.  other than changing the color and position can i edit something so it wont popup.

also does mala have a problem displaying an all black screen?  in paint it looks fine but when im in mala it looks like it became brighter.

thanks.

It worked for me.  I chose "Use fullscreen starting picture instead of starting window.  I created an all black small 200 x 200 image file using MSPAINT and saved it as a 16 color bmp file.

That's what I was referring to with "Use fullscreen starting picture instead of starting window"

I tried the full screen black image and it looks much better.  the only problem is the background when im in the game select screen.  ill try saving the pics for the background differently though im using the same ones for the starting window so i dont get why they look so different.  ill try and get a pic or two up to show what i mean.

If I can squeek in here and perhaps ask a question of my own about Mala. Is there some specific button to press when wanting to exit out of a screen saver? I tried pressing all the typical buttons, and nothing could get me out of the video screen saver and back to Mala. I hit escape several times, and nothing much happened until I hit it again, and then it asked me if I wanted to exit Mala completely. What gives?

There are some issues with the Video Screen saver and RC9.  You should be abe to hit any button to exit the screen saver. No doubt this will be fixed for the next version.

Good to know, although hopefully they release a new version faster than the 6 months between RC8 and RC9.

You've gotta remember, it's not a "they", it's just a "swindus" - one guy. And MaLa, like most fe's is home brew freeware - so you really can't rush the dev. But maybe swindus can get out a patch release to solve the screensaver issue.  :)

Well now when i choose my layout the background is all white even when i change it to black.  that and it even though i have the game selected box below the snapshot it shows up above it.  i was going to also complain about the snapshots themselves but i think that once they are all resized i wont have the problem im having with them.

ill keep at it though the main issue i have is the background not being normal black.
