Can't Get WinCab To Display Cover Art...Help
« on: May 07, 2007, 12:50:04 am »
Hello,
Newbie Here  ;D
   I've been using WinCab's "default" skin for a few weeks now - Works Great!

Now I'm trying to use the other skin that displays the CD cover art (CD4-1). When I play my MP3's individually with Windows Media, I can see the cover art. But I don't see the Cover Art when I use WinCab. I originally had all of my mp3's in a single folder which was good enough when using the default skin. I tried to set up a separate folder which includes a .jpg & .png of the artwork. But when I open WinCab I just get the default image and a correct song list.
I think I'm missing something here...or maybe I'm not filing/labeling something correctly.  :dunno
Any help or tips would be great.
Thanks!

# CoverArt defines the order in which files are searched
# for cover art.  Cover art is only used for CD skins
# at this time.  The cover art found in the flder for
# the first song in an album is used.

CoverArt1 = folder.jpg
CoverArt2 = AlbumArt_{????????-????-????-????-????????????}_Large.jpg
CoverArt3 = *.jpg

Hi Caesar,
I recently had a problem with cd covers and found the answer in hidden files and also protected system files in the music folders... Your problem is no art at all. The reason you see art with WM Player is that it reads the tags which have the art embedded in the file. Wincab doesn't read these tags and relies on art in the folder itself. Open the folder with the music and check for hidden files.. To do this if unsure...

On the Menu bar click
Tools
Folder Options
Then click radio button> Show hidden files and folders
Also tick> Display contents of system folders and scroll to untick> Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

In your jukebox.ini file check these settings

# MaxFolderDepth sets how deep in the folder structure to
# look for music. This will help prevent runaway indexing
# if unexpected removable media is found on a song path.

MaxFolderDepth = 2      (This might be important)

# CoverArt defines the order in which files are searched
# for cover art.  Cover art is only used for CD skins
# at this time.  The cover art found in the folder for
# the first song in an album is used.

CoverArt1 = *.jpg

As you can see, I've removed the other options for cover art in my jukebox.ini file, this way it doesn't matter what name you give the .jpg

All albums should be in their own folder with a copy of the cover art inside.
All tags for those tracks should have the album name and album artist exactly the same.
If mixed artists then use Various in the album artist tag.

BTW... I use the free version of Media Monkey to tag my files. (It will tag automatically from Amazon)

Hope this helps..

Cheers,
Nigel
