Album ordering
« on: May 02, 2007, 09:10:14 am »
What determines the order that the albums appear in? For example, I have a 4 disc CD set, and I would like them to be ordered one after another, but they are interspersed with other albums.

Thanks.

They should be by artist and then by album, as defined in the ID3 tags.

Could it be a problem that the artist for each song in the album is given, although the album itself is various artists? I assumed that the default of various artists would kick in in this case, but would it be better to set all the ID3 tags to read various artists instead? They are still staying together as an album (I set the album sorting to strict for all folders), but the albums are not listed where they should be.

For each individual disk, the artists are looked at for each song.  If more than 50% of the songs are from one artist, that will be the artist for the CD, otherwise it gets tagged "various artists".  What does the screen say the artist is for those disks?  Maybe my secondary sort is off.

Having the same problem with other albums too I found, so it's not a various artist thing. For example, it will list an album by the Beatles, then the Who, then another by the Beatles.

Odd.  Is SongSort set to something other than Artist in jukebox.ini?
