DIY S-Video Cable

This isn't exactly arcade related, but it's close.

The Nintendo Wii was shipped with regular RCA cables.  My TV isn't quite up to date with component, but it does have s-video.  Is there a way to modify the rca cables Nintendo included with the system to make them into s-video cables instead?  I already have an s-video connector I can use to splice into the rca cables.

Is this possible?  From what I've found so far, it sounds like it is, but I've yet to find anything definitive on how and what to do.

No.  You can go ther other way in various ways, but going from composite to S-Video won't actually gain you any image quality and in fact tends to cause other problems.  The extra data just isn't there.

The WII apparently has svideo on its video connector.   You would have to hack your existing cable connector to get access to the proper pins.  In a molded cable this is almost impossible.   Or you could buy a WII svideo cable.

Ah. I should've checked the link, and the diagram on that page with the picture. I have a port on my computer that looks like that. So that's the wii end, huh? It's not PC monitor-compatible, then.
