Here it is.... the perfect control panel
« on: April 03, 2007, 12:38:46 pm »
As many of you know - many people need help configuring their CP. I've designed what I feel is the most perfect CP ever. Feel free to use it, but if you do - I would request you send me a 10% royalty. 10% being the total cost of the CP.

The first thing you'll notice with this CP is that it includes nearly every control you need to play most games. God knows why more people haven't thought of this.  :dunno

Also, as a built in safety measure - the CP is wide enough to compliment todays "large and in charge" gamer. I highly recommend some hooks attached to the cabinet near each player to provide a megaphone for in game communication. This is especially helpful during games of Contra, Joust, Mario Bros or any game that requires cooperation.

A CP this powerful requires a cabinet to match. I would recommend a few dozen bags of cement inside of the cabinet to keep the cabinet from flipping over.

Feel free to comment on the CP if you like - but I think we all know it's perfect.  ;)

100 inches wide...hellz yea. The sad part is that this design actually would work for some people around here.

 :laugh2:

Nice work Lew. I see you put your heart and soul into this design.  :applaud:

What about a steering wheel (or three)? Light guns? Flight stick? Star Wars yoke? Paperboy handlebars? 720 Degrees stick? Frontline "spinner"? Rotary joysticks?

You need at least 104 "admin" buttons too, arranged conveniently in QWERTY fashion.

Then mount it on a Centipede.

Star Wars yoke? Paperboy handlebars?

Maybe he could save a bit of space by hacking his Paperboy handlebars and adding some buttons on it to also function as a star wars yoke!  2 in 1!!!!

I would definitely lose about 4" in width.
That will let you use an uncut piece of 4x8, and will completely solve the "should I use a circular saw/table saw/jigsaw to cut my CP" dilemma.
The correct answer will now be "NO! Just shut up and drill your holes".

Maybe he could save a bit of space by hacking his Paperboy handlebars and adding some buttons on it to also function as a star wars yoke!  2 in 1!!!!

Paperboy is actually very playable with a Star Wars yoke.
I'd make a second tier of controls that would swing up from the bottom of the CP when needed, and would include steering wheels, shifters, SW yoke and light guns.

And the best argument yet for keeping the arcade in the living room. "But honey, I can't fit it down the basement stairs." :applaud:

Where's the cupholders?

I assumed that the unmarked controls on the left were taps for the kegs he was planning to hold this up with.

No, but it would make a fun and interactive front porch.

Where are the flipper buttons and ball plunger.   Your going to need gorilla arms to use the flippers.

There should be a DDR pad and rowing attachment.  What were you thinking?

Yeah!! And don't forget to add some mounting brackets to the front so that you can add a couple of Horses and play "Final Furlong" or add a couple of bikes for "Super Hang On"
