48 in 1 pcb board

javeryh:
Does this just pop into a motherboard slot like a graphics card or something?  How do they work?

BobA:
Look at Hawk Daddy's first picture.  This is a standalone board the just plugs into the jamma harness of your cab.  There is no PC required.  It can support arcade monitors or PC monitors depending on the setting of the board.  The most common seem to be the 48 in 1 and 60 in 1 for vertical games.  The monitor must be placed vertically.

Let's be honest, they are emulation boards also.  Just not running on an X86 chip.  Yes, they are JAMMA, but so are the PC boards, just cheaper hardward in the X-in-1 boards.

No...the PC boards are actual PC's sandwiched together with a JAMMA I/O board.  Much less reliable.  Much more problems.  The 48-in-1, 60-in-1, and 19-in-1 boards are all damn near bulletproof... many many many hours on each without so much as a problem....

The PC based "sandwich" boards take 2-3 minutes to load,  and aren't very reliable from my perspective.

pcb:
The 48-in1s are still emulation boards, like the Multicade board from ArcadeShop.   I agree, they are not PC based, but they are emulation.  The new Namco Ms Pac/Galaga or the DK/DKJr/Mario are emulations too.
