Jigsaw advice?
« on: March 19, 2007, 02:15:13 pm »
I'm checking out the Bosch 1590EVSK Jigsaw (Amazon has it for $150).  It looks very well rated.  I don't mind spending extra $ for a nice tool that will last me a long time and I won't "grow out of", but I just want to make sure it's not overkill.  Any thoughts or other recommendations from you experts?

Thanks,
Chris

The 1590 is a great jigsaw, but as I mentioned in the other thread I'd go with the 1591. The barrel grip will give better control when cutting curves and when cutting in general. There's nothing wrong with spending good money on good tools. They really do perform that much better than the cheapies, otherwise everyone would just buy the cheap stuff.

from what ive read you will feel the heat buildup since your not holding a handle but otherwise it seems to be top rated.
Back in MY day we lived on the moon and we had to build a rocket ship from scratch to get to the Earth before we suffocated.

The heat buildup is likely from holding the saw in a way that blocks the vents. Either that or it's just normal for it to get a bit warm. Here's a review by a trustworthy source. This guy knows his stuff.

Not reviewed by me.  I wish I had all the tools he reviewed... :dizzy:

I trust his opinion though. Every tool I've bought based on his recommendation I've loved.

Right now it's $151.62. If it drops below $150 it gets posted in the power tool price thread. ;D

I love amazon.
