Commodore PCs Unveiled
« on: March 15, 2007, 05:06:17 pm »
Today is the day that Commodore unveiled it's PCs.   Just high end gamming pcs that don't seem to have anything special but they do come with a C64 emulator and 50 games installed.

It does bring it back.  I remember seeing the first Pet in a mall and much later bought a VIC20 for my daughter to play with.  Cassette tapes anyone?

Clicking on the enlarge for that image reveals a caption that reads:

Commodore Lander Skin
This is an example of an "old school" Commodore skin, hearkening back to the first game made for the Commodore 64, Jupiter Lander. Yes, it's a bit garish, but that was 8-bit back then. (Source: Commodore)
Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!

I am hugely disappointed.  I thought they were going to grow a pair and come out with THEIR OWN computer...not just some renamed Intel/AMD PC.   What happened to innovation?  Bah...no different than building your own except if you build your own you get better parts and KNOW what the hell you have in your box.

Heh... I just gave away a Vic-20, a TRS-80, and two TII99s.

I gave away a vic20 years ago but I sold my TRS-80 with 2 disk drives and the memory expansion that sat under the monitor for about $2500 back when it still had lots of value.  Got into a z80 CPM system with 8 indh drives with the money I got for the TRS-80.

TRS-80 was awesome, especially Peanut Butter Panic...though playing it now it's not the same.

So M.U.L.E. won't be able to run on it natively then?  Oh well.....
