Fixing an old Tempest cabinet
« on: February 28, 2007, 09:56:53 am »
I found an old Tempest cabinet I want to restore. I won't be putting Tempest in it because it all ready has a different game in it. The side art is still there but it pretty rough. Most of the panels have big scratches and marks all over them.

I'm trying to take the side art off with a hair dryer and knife. Its working, but slowly. Is there any way I can get the laminate off the other panels? Because I want to resurface the entire cabinet and prime & paint it. I bought wood filler for most of the scratches and holes. I just have to get all the surface stuff off. Then I can got back through and sand, sand, sand. Until everything is nice and flush and then I can primer the cabinet and repaint it.

Chemical paint stripper works..... Or a hot air paint stripper gun.

Also, depending on how rough the sides really are you may be better off simply replacing them.
