thanks for the quick reply, but, i had a quick look at that site, and the software only appears to change the logon screen (won't be using usernames/passwords in my cab)

i'm after any info on changing the startup/shutdown screens...i know how to do it in win95/98 (by changing the logo.sys and logos.sys files), but it doesn't work for XP

correct me if i'm wrong about any of the above

You are right.  I'm trying to find what I use to change the boot screens but the site appear to no longer exist.

Something that's even harder to find is actual arcade/video game related logong screens.  I've had the tools to modify for ages but couldn't find anything good to replace them with.

Perhaps this would make a good addition to the eye candy section? (Hint Saint)

Here's a tougher question: how do you change the second welcome screen?  you know, the one that comes up right before your desktop appears?  if got my boot screen changed to a MAME version, and their is no logon screen, but then i see the blue welcome screen which bugs me!

any help?

I think that is still the login screen.  There are login loaders.

you could just turn the welcome screen off:

Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change the way users log on or off

then uncheck the 'Use Welcome Screen' box

How about the shutdown screen?  I've never seen any type of documentation on how to get rid of that one.
