Ok Im sure its a very simple question...sorry for the noob question....but will Horizontal games play at all on a vertical monitor???A lot smaller Im sure but do they work at all??

They play smaller.

They play fine, just letterboxed. What I do on my vertical cab for the few horizontal games I just have to keep (Robotron!) is make marquee overlays to fill the space and run them at 480x640 (designed for a multi-sync arcade monitor). The new overlay system in MAME makes it easy since it's a 24 bit PNG.
