wow thank you for this!!

as a newcomer to MaLa and MAME in general this is certainly an epic thread :)

now to search on how exactly to design and build my own.  i'm somewhat of a graphic artist, so the design in photoshop would be pretty easy, but i need to figure out how to get the composite and make it a usable layout.

Tis truly a work of artistic genius adding that marquee ;)

I just realised the v549e description is wrong too .. it isn't a scalable layout... it is fixed to suit 640x480 and/or 1024x768 !  The lesson is... never upload when sleepy, no matter how insistent the nagging gets ;)

1) In MaLaLayout, open the properties for the cab object (Definable 1). 
2) Tick 'transparent'.
3) hope that the bottom left corner pixel of all your cab shots is the black background
4) any that aren't, and you can't absolutely live with it, throw a pixel in that corner with Floatyshop and re-save.

also keep in mind that for some cabinet pics the 'transparency' translates undesirably in to the images.  you may have to individually adjust some images to compensate as I have.
