WTB: Used plastic arcade driving seat
« on: March 27, 2003, 03:31:32 pm »
I have been looking around for a "used" (ie: not a lot of money) arcade plastic driving seat with all the mounting hardware included to allow the seat to be adjusted in various positions, but have had no luck.  If anyone is selling one of these (or knows where I could potentially get one) then please contact me: emailAddrRemoved

Thanks
UncleT

have you considered your local wrecker and getting a real car seat?  I'd think you'd pay a heck of a lot less (and get a lot nicer:-) than a plastic seat from Happs (or similar..)

just a thought..

I already looked at two auto salvage places.  They had fabric/cloth seats and hardware for about $50.   Although the seats they had to offer came with rusty mounting hardware,  had stains all over them, broken glass on them, decaying leaves, animal crap, etc.... since the cars they came from had no windows and were available to all the woodland creatures to use when they wanted to recline..... :>)

Anyway, I decided having a nice Mame driving arcade machine cabinet in my living room with a real automobile used car seat would look quite out-of-place.   I already did the impossible by conviencing my wife to allow me to keep the cabinet in our living room, but I doubt she would like a used beat-up car seat from a 82 mazda mounted on it.... :>)

Where are you located? i have a pair of Atari Seats from a Road Riot 4WD in Maryland. I really don't see it being cost effective to ship one.

As long as the seat would come with all the mounting hardware which would be required to allow the seat to be adjusted front/back in various positions for the player, then this is what I am looking for.  I would only need one seat and set of mounting hardware and would be interested in seeing some pictures of all the parts.   Just pick out the best seat and hardware and send me some pictures.  Would that be possible?  If the seats are just extra parts for you and you would give me a good deal on this stuff, then I could spend the money for shipping....

I am located in Florida but would still be interested in trying to find the cheapest way to ship the stuff to see if it is worth it.   Is there any way you could weigh all the items and see how much it would be to ship to 33467?  I would think the plastic seat would not weigh that much to increase shipping charges...but I have no idea how much the mounting hardware would weigh.   If not, then give me an idea of how much this stuff weighs, your zipcode and whether you could ship FedEx, UPS and/or USPS and I can try to call around for a good deal....  Also, give me the dimensions of the seat...thanks

Anyway, let me know what you think......

Sorry these are just hard mounted seats, they don't adjust. I don't mind giving stuff away if I'm not using it but Shipping one of these would probably be more than I am willing to do. Sorry I had hoped you were near MD somewhere. I travel to VA, NJ, PA often looking for Arcade deals so even one of those States. I'll be in Florida at the end of next month but I am flying.

This is the exact seat I have two of by the way.

Thanks anyway then.   I really need a seat which adjusts.   I figure if I am going to go through the trouble of making an arcade driving cabinet, I should allow the player to adjust their seat....it just would not fill right to have a mounted unadjustable seat....so I will just wait until I find someone selling one.

PS:  Do you have any contacts in Florida in the arcade business which I could contact?

Thanks again

sorry man,  I guess I'm used to having 20+ salvage yards within a 45 minute drive (Vancouver,BC...) of where I live, and thousands of new cars to pick through.. seems like we have alot of really, *really* bad drivers here..:-)

hope you find something..

I live on the US/Mexico border. I think we win for the worst drivers & the most junked cars
