Key Wiz MAx wiring question
« on: January 01, 2007, 02:09:09 pm »
Getting ready to start wiring my CP...but a couple of questions before I do.

I'm looking for the solderable 5 volt hubs on the Key Wiz board...my eyes are not what they used to be. It looks like the 5v hub and the ground for it are located under the G and Shazzam terminals. There is a small area surrounded by a white line right underneath those terminals. Does this sound correct?

Also, I'm running 2 P-360's...can I hook both of them to the hub on the Key Wiz...or do they each need their own 5v source?

Thanks for any input,
Xam

The connections should be labeled (not sure which board rev you have).  With the PS/2 connector up, the 5v connection is to the left and the GND connection is to the right.

Slightly up and to the left of those, you will see two pads with a thin space between.  A drop of solder bridging these two pads will bring the 5v line out to the screw  terminal marked "NL".  Ground can be taken from the ground terminal.  This will be easier and I can supply a picture if needed.

They will both run fine from the same connection.

Thanks Randy!

Once again you are "da' man".

I think I see what you are talking about...but a pic would definately help confirm this.

On my board I see 2 silver pads almost directly under the G terminal. If I understand you correctly, I am to put a small drop of solder between these 2 pads (bridge them). I can then get my 5v+ from the terminal marked NL (blacked out on my board and located directly to the right of the G terminal). I then simply plug the ground from my P-360's to the G terminal and the Pos to the NL terminal.

Thanks again,

Xam

Sounds like you have it under control.  But here's a pic just in case:

Cool! Thanks for the pic Randy. It really helps me feel more comfortable. That looks exactly like what I have and confirms what I need to do. :notworthy:
