Lightgun Question
« on: December 01, 2006, 04:40:24 pm »
Getting ready to purchase lightguns for my MAME cabinet.  My setup is
Billabs model BL27CB0P monitor (http://www.billabs.com/bl27cb0p.htm),
ArcadeVGA video card, USB port, MAME V0.103.

I am considering ACT-Labs PC USB 2 Light Guns Bundled System
(http://www.act-labs.com/scripts/proddetails.asp?Pid=841).  Is this
going to work with both MAME games as well as PC games such as HOTD,
Virtual Cop, etc.  Any alternatives to the Act-Labs?

Any input is appreciated.

well im by no means a expert but i did try to run HOTD and HOTD2 on my pc with my PS2 namco G-Con2 which sort of worked with my tv in the fact that the cursor on the tv moved around but the problem was when i went to shoot 9.e. pull the trigger it would shoot because it was obviously not set up to do so which was 100% anoying but i didn't really have the time to bother about it so gave up!!!

but i really did work sort of!

i was just using a old tv with a scart socket and scart to RCA adaptor
My really good PC with S-Video and yellow composite output
a load of leads connecting the 2
my PS2 G-Con2 gun
and a G-Con2 XP driver.

i think if i remember correctly that it might work on a CRT PC monitor as well but my whole house is full of flat screen's TV's PC's the lot. i got the tv out of the loft to try the thing out!!!!

wheither this helps or not let me know but one thing is HOTD doesn't work on XP (or it didn't work for me) but after backing up the disc on 98se and re-aranging the files for a hour i managed to get it to work on 98. HOTD2 WOW works on XP and 98 so can't lose.
