Trackball Not recognized in MAME

I have a 3" Happ trackball connected via USB.  Windows recognizes it and it woks fine there.  It also works in GameEx.  However when I try to run Centipede nothing happens.  Neither my mouse or the trackball moves the character.  I go into the config in the game and try to set the trackball as the control to use but nothing happens.  I have set MAME to reconize that the mouse is the device to use for trackball, pedal and dial controls.  Nothing seems to fix it.

What am I doing wrong?

Never mind, I got it working.  I had to go into the player 1 controls in the configuration menus.
