Marquee - First attempt
« on: December 15, 2006, 08:55:28 pm »
Hi,

Here is the marquee that I am thinking of using (heavily ripped off from real artists such as Pixelhugger)

I am in 2 minds, keeping it simple, text only or with a few characters around the border.

Comments or suggestions most welcome

Iain

Looks nice! The characters on the side make it more appealing. The text underneath looks a bit flat. Maybe you can use some gradient from white to light gray to give it more body and/or put a little glow arround it.

Don’t take this the wrong way but can I make some criticism?

The characters around the edges look more of an after thought rather than design and the name and so forth has been done to death. I’m sure if you check out AAL you will find better homebrew marquees done by others here.

I’m not too sure what you’re after, but generic MAME cabs are rather dull in my eyes.

Sometimes making it into a repro cab with full sideart, marquee, bezel and modified CPO looks better.

Take a look around the net, you’ll see repro artwork for sale like Galaxians, Pac-Man, Ms Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Popeye etc etc.

Ok its not designed by you, but if your not artistic and you want a sexy MAME cab, this simply makes the best option.

Whole-heartedly agree with what Ad said.
