Assault joystick setup
« on: March 25, 2003, 12:22:12 pm »
I know this is going to be a pain! Hopefully this is already on a web page somewhere...

What mappings do I need to make in MAME so that I can play Assault? I have two 8 ways, P1 and P2. all I can do is go left and backwards!

You need to setup the 'P1 Left/?' stuff to your left (P1?) stick and all the 'P1 Right/?' stuff to your right (P2?) stick.

eg:

P1 Left/Left = Left Arrow
P1 Left/Right = Right Arrow
P1 Left/Up = Up Arrow
P1 Left/Down = Down Arrow

P1 Right/Left = D
P1 Right/Right = G
P1 Right/Up = R
P1 Right/Down = F

Then try and operate the fire button with your toes if you don't have trigger sticks!  :D

Also, when setting your keys for Assault, MAKE SURE that you set left/right/up/down to an unused key or else you'll experience goofiness

For some reason, there are key mappings for:
p1 left/right                <-use these!
p1 left/left
p1 left/up
p1 left/down
p1 right/right
p1 right/left
p1 right/up
p1 right/down
---AND---
p1 right                     <-disable these!
p1 left
p1 up
p1 down
