My soon to be finished project
« on: March 24, 2003, 01:27:44 pm »
I've been hanging around for a little while now and in the interest of sharing ideas, i thought i'd post some pics of my soon to be finished(hopefully) cab.  Its based on Lusid's designs with a few slight modifications.  Its made entirely from 3/4" MDF since there's no 5/8" available that i can find.   I still need to paint it and add the t-molding, marquee, and monitor glass, but for the most part its just about done.  I may redo the control panel in the near future as well.  I think i'm going to do away with some administrative buttons. The cab is nothing groundbreaking, but i'm happy with it so far.  There are a few things i'll do differently next time, but i don't think its bad for my first serious attempt at woodworking.  The second to last picture is almost the current state of it.  The monitor bezel is just sitting there in the pic, its no mounted so thats why its crooked.  Since that picture i installed the marquee light and filled in over the screws.  For the most part though, that pic reflects the current state.  Let me know what you think.

When the Germans bombed the British, the British ducked.

When the Americans started bombing, everyone ducked!

the neatness of your wiring makes me sick! (that's a compliment, really)

Even when I take my time and zip tie stuff up it turns into a rats nest!

looking good so far!

Thanx for the compliments guys.

SNAAAKE:  I did the speaker grills by drilling a hole at each end of the slot then used a jigsaw to cut from one hole to the other.  Pretty crude but it works.  I got a little sloppy with it though.  It's not real noticeable, but the fact that the slots aren't perfect bothers me.  I think i'm gonna redo the speaker panel with my router now that i have one.

radiator: So far i've been happy with the 7500.  I have little to compare to though as this is the first card i've ever had with tv out.  Maybe someday i'll get a newer card, but for now i'm content.

rampy:  Thanx for the compliment, I spent a long time on the wiring, i'm considering redo the control panel and rewiring is something i'm dreading.
