is there a link to a topic on the forum...
or does anyone have  a solid guide on how to create skins using the layout editor?
my german is not so good and its not exactly intuitive to use

???? Are you sure you are using the MaLa editor?  ??? I find it very intuitive :P

So I don't think there is any docs on it .

yeah im sure.
im still putzing with it.

my main question is how one creates a multi layered image, such as a background- gamelist- layer with transparent parts-foreground images.

can i even do that or would i have to set the whole thing in phtoshop and sort  of pray it looks the way i want when i load it in to the editor?

I don't believe Mala can read PSD files. To put new art elements into the forground, you have to create a new custom object for each piece that you want and then load the art for each of those pieces. Remember that only GIF and PNG files can have transparancy.
