Mrs pacman problem!

Hi guys! here I am again with another problem!  I bouhgt a Mrs. Pacman about a month ago and it was working perfectly. The other day it died on me. I have no screen at all. I checked the fuses and power supply voltages and all is good. When I plug the unit in it makes a sound as if the monitor is coming on but it never does. Listening in the back of the unit I hear coming from the monitor a click or ignition sound every few seconds..Any ideas?

a ticking from the monitor points towards a shut down on the monitor power supply(in trip),can be caused by dry solder joints,faulty caps,faulty h.o.t or a flyback whats the model number and make

the name and number I found on the monitor sticker is Electrohome 19" color monitor M051-00092-0000...I also found another number on what I believe is the chassis...This number is G07-CBO...Also, when the game first went off I noticed a small blinking in the center of the screen. I dont know if that would he you diagnos the problem, Figured it cant hurt to let you know.

the electrohome g07 has been mentioned alot on this forum recently,have a look for the posts
i think you can purchase a repair kit from bob roberts
my personal feeling is start by checking for bad solder joints and get a full cap kit on it,it would not hurt if you got a new horizontal output transistor as well and not too much cost i would imagine

Hi Guys! Thanks for the replies!
I got Bob Roberts site  and I will order the whole kit from him but I still have a few questions..If its a monitor problem and only a monitor problem wouldnt the game play blind? At this point I  get nothing at all except for the sound the monitor makes when its first turned on. If I press the player 1 or 2 buttons there is nothing. Also, How do you discharge the monitor? Dont want to get the shock of my life here  !

If you don't get any coin up and the gameboard doesn't play sounds then it appears you may have a power problemto or with the gameboard (edge connector contacts?).

Test all the fuses with a meter too.

yeah,if you get no sounds its prob power supply-just meter your outputs
perhaps its your psu clicking.try my suggestions in your other post

Got it workin! Its now working blind. It appears there is a wire inside the door near the red button that was grounding out. Once I fixed this the game now works! However, I did what Grantspain said and raised the brightness on the monitor. It now just blinks alot..I probably need a new cap kit. I will buy the who deal and dio it all one shot. I will get back when its all said and done. In the meantime if someone can tell me how too discharge the monitor that would be great!

Good job, playing blind is a great thing from nothing at all.  If you turn up the brightness and it flickers but doesn't act "right" a new flyback, HOT, and caps should get it going.

It flickers  bright white flashes..Is this normal? Shouldnt I see the  picture of the game board at all even if it only flashes for a split second? All I see is bright white flashes...

does it do this when the video signal is disconnected?
if it does then obviously the fault must be on the monitor chassis,the only time i have seen flashes like you describe is when something is arcing to ground,maybe the flyback or a really bad solder joint on a high power component-the only other thing i can think of is that the monitor is unstable and keeps trying to shut down-once again we are back to the caps,h.o.t and flyback

I am definitely going to replace all the parts in the monitor, Flyback, caps,etc... I am just wondering if I should see any form of picture in the flashing. I see nothing but white flashes with the video signal connected.

When mine played blind I didn't see a thing.  ZERO.

There was no glow in the neck, therefore, turning up the brightness resulted in no white screen.

I would replace those components (they need to be replaced anyways for a monitor of that age) and if it doesn't appear to work correctly let us know and we will continue to help.
