This whole week my PC was acting fruity. Kept shutting itself off. Thought it was overheating. Eventually it just wouldn't turn on, so I then thought, hmmm...mobo, or psu? Checked the psu by switching it with my arcade's psu, and wala! Success!
For once in my life, the solution is something simple!!!Then came the headache. Somehow, when I disconnected the psu from the arcade, the TV's settings got screwed up. Worked RIGHT before I turned it off, then when I plugged everything back in, the TV was flipping and all hell broke loose. Took me five hours to finally figure that one out. (Simple indeed. Diagnosed the problem on one thing, only to cause a problem elsewhere.) TV would NEVER work correctly unless a pc monitor was plugged in (didn't even matter if the pc monitor was on or not. Just plugged in, but I learned it always screwed up when Powerstrip loaded.) Eventually figured I needed to remove Powerstrip and reinstall, so I did. Also reinstalled the ATI drivers for good measure. Got that all fixed. After about 4 hours.
So onto the whole point of this thread. Went out to shop for a psu. Had my mind set on Best Buy and Micro Center. Since CompUSA was on the way, I figured what did I have to lose?
Apparently nothing at all! Found an Antec 500W PSU for $39.99*
*After rebates: $30 instant, $30 mail-in.
Just checked on their site, and it's listed there as well! Store sign said it lasted until the 30th.
Antec PSU!A VERY nice PSU unit-double fan. One of those types with the extra cords, and the cords are wrapped in a nifty little covering. 2 PCI-E cords, 2 sets of power cords with 3 molexes on each cord, 2 SATA cords, plus extras. See pic.
