When I disable my soundcard in the device manager and then start MaLa, I find the following in the MaLa log file:

2006.09.14  17:23:22.78   Error: Object Class: TfrmMain, Object Function: ReplacePattern_selected, Exception Class: EAccessViolation, Exception Message: Zugriffsverletzung bei Adresse 004A188C in Modul 'MaLa.exe'. Lesen von Adresse 00000004

So I would assume that something is wrong with your soundcard installation.
