Mechanized Attack to MAME behemoth
« on: October 09, 2006, 03:25:42 pm »
There is a local guy here wanting to sell this Mechanized Attack game for 350.00. He says it works great, but I'm looking at it thru MAME-colored glasses...lol.

In looking at the picture, it seems that this would make a great (albeit monstrous) MAME cabinet. If the guns were removed...I see a spacious control panel, with an awesome cabinet begging for a humongous monitor?

Has anyone seen this particular style cabinet MAME'd before? I'm thinking this might be a worthy project.

Why in the world would you take that cabinet, especially working, and turn it into an overly bulky MAME box?  :dizzy:

$350 seems pretty high for something you're going to MAME. There are plenty of incomplete or gutted cabs out there that can be had for as little as $20 or even free.

Bah,

let a guy mame whatever he wants.  Maybe he can part out what hes got to some hardcore Mechanized Attack fanatic that is just missing that one piece to complete his restoration.

He can do whatever he wants of course, but why post here if you're not looking for opinions? My opinion: It's a dumb idea. :p

a) It's a unique hardware cab (ie gun game) why ruin it where there are so many other less interesting cabs to hack up if you really want to start with an existing piece of hardware

b) Given that the guns will be removed, all that extra bulk will be useless, take up space, make it more heavy, and IMHO will just look plain stupid

 :blah:

Just looking at the main cab itself, it's very similar to my Dynamo cab with a huge CP extension on it.  Looks like the monitor area might be positioned slightly more upright on the one you're looking at. If it is a Dynamo and has the slide out tray for the CP/boards, they are great MAME cabinets.

I put a 27" monitor vertically in mine.
