Chase HQ steering wheel

I just recently acquired a Chase HQ standup unit.  Everything is in excellent condition except the steering does not work.  I have looked at the manual and the steering wheel mechanism that is shown doesn't look like the one that's on the machine.  Has anyone worked on this machine before?

I have one in the garage that doesn't power up.  I also haven't drilled the locks yet (no keys), so I can't see inside it. 


That's probably not much help, is it?  :dizzy:

A couple of suggestions that wouldn't hurt:

Make sure the gears turn the encoder wheel (disc with holes in it) as it should,
Test the optic board (PCB the encoder wheel runs perpendicular to) has 5v going to it - use a multimeter if you have access to one.

If both of those check out then I guess your optics or optic PCB is bad...

Took your advise and measured the voltage.... Had 5v....  Since the 5v is in the center theres no way to burn anything out by putting the plug on the other way.  So I did that and still nothing working.  Then I measured the other connecter(non-optical PCB) and that wasn't plug in right.  So I flipped it and now the steering WORKS!  Note: Use keyed connectors! So in a nut shell both connectors were backwards!  I thought for sure I missing parts on the steering assembly.
