Rough price on this air hockey table?
« on: August 30, 2006, 12:57:20 am »
It's 7 foot long, 40" wide and appears lightly used from what I can see in the pics, but trying to get a rough idea of the value (couldn't find a price after a Google search). Ideally would like to know a current new price so I could make an offer on this used table, any help would be appreciated!
$6.75 the hard way-one quarter at a time.

I got my Dynamo commercial air hockey table for about $1000 at an auction, with auto-scoring, Dynamo quality, etc...  If the play is good on that one (test the air flow, play a game or two) I think I would be hesitant to pay more than $750 personally. This is, of course, without having seen it at all.

Nice to know you have $1000 to put into a work storage counter.  :laugh2: :laugh2:

It's a hell of a good storage counter :)

I need to take a picture of it in use in the gameroom now. Of all the machines, the air-hockey gets the most use.

I would like to get an air hockey table, but I would have to part with my ping pong table. I couldn't bring myself to do that. I would miss the feeling of completely humiliating my opponents too much. ;D

It seriously is worth that much? I didn't think non-commerial, manual scoring air hockey tables went for that much. If that's true, it makes the price their asking an insane deal. Now I just have to decide if I want to drive 3 hours to get it, just noticed how far away it is.

If it's not commercial quality then probably not. From the size you described it as I thought it was commercial quality. Most "home gameroom" air hockey tables are smaller...

Hmm, it might be afterall, the few references I've managed to find to it on-line mention it being in places like teen clubs and the like. Maybe it's somewhere in-between the two. I might just wait until I can find one with automatic scoring-TBH I'd prefer it. Manual is too easy to forget when you're half-drunk and having alot of fun.

of all the things I ever see wrong on a commercial air hockey table it's the scoring mechanism. I seem to always get the side that doesn't score. I currently have a 7 foot arctic wind table from Dynamo. It's Dynamo's home model and it plays real good. The biggest issue I have with it is the smaller pucks (2.25") and smaller goals. It costs about $900 and can be seen here:

http://www.htmarket.com/83870.html

That particular model your looking at.... you'll need to actually use it to get a good feel. I suspect the goals are plastic, they are in the playfield and the other tables I've seen like that go new for around $350-$400. I wouldn't pay more than $200 for that table.  I like my goals to be on the edge of the table and not actually in the playfield like that.

Yeah, two bills is what they are asking. Think I'll just wait for something closer, that's a hell of a drive for something I'd have to make space for, anyway.

Current new price is probably around $550-600.
I sold what appears to be an identical table (with different markings) in new condition, and I mean new... it had like 4 plays on it. My wife wanted it, then never used it. Another BYOAC reader bought it off me for $400.

Edit to add: If you want a table like this, you might be ahead to wait... Sporting goods places like ---Deutsche Frankfurters--- carry them around Christmas time. They don't stock them the rest of the year.

Second edit to add: Even though there are manual scoring slides on the table, it does have electronic scoring. It was an optional kit built into the blacklight that contained timer and scoring.

Hmm, the electronic scoring on it makes a big difference-I'll have to write the person selling it and see if theirs has it on there.

*edit* nm, I can see it right there on the pic, how the hell did I miss that the first 50 times I looked at it?

Keep in mind that most, nearly all, air hockey table problems are the electronic scoring.

That black light table is pretty damn cool.

Eesh... not in the St. Louis Craigslist. By full size we are talking 7 or 8 feet right?

yeah. I have been thinking about gettin an air hockey, and watching CL. I have seen arcade sized ones with coin mechs for under $100. Also I see lots of the store bought ones for homes from $50-150 depending on what they are. Seems like people get bored and let them go cheap.

example i just found: http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/spo/202505337.html

nice table over 7' asking $100. i see these all the time here in Portland.
