Oscar Pro Spinner
« on: April 06, 2002, 03:13:00 am »
Well my Oscar Pro Spinner arrived today.

The first thing you notice is the weight.  It's heavy.  This is due to the large fly wheel attached to the underside of the toothed wheel.  Spinning it round in my hand gave me a good feel for how it will perform once I build it into my control panel.

The shaft is protected at either end by nylon bushes to cut down on the friction when pushing down on the spinner knob (i'm sure that happens when I play).  I went for the "Tempest" style knob which has a good depth on it so there's plenty to grab hold of.

I  can't tell you how it performs yet as I haven't bought the opti-pac interface.  What I will say is how professional the sale was.  All my questions were answered over a weekend including replies on a Sunday.  The Spinner was dispatched on Good Friday (29th March) and it arrived on Saturday (6th April).  That's excellent considering I live in the UK.  My order to the UK Happs Controls company has yet to arrive even though I have had an email confirming the shipment is ready to ship before I even placed my order for the Oscar spinner.

I have put some pictures up showing the size of the spinner in comparison with a popular beverage, a closeup of the shaft and the nylon bushes and a close up of the toothed wheel.

Sorry they are large but I have not doctored them in any way.

I recently had the opportunity to see one close up, a guy at work ordered one and brought it in.  Top notch work Kelsey!  Nice and heavy, spins like original Tempest spinner.
