Price guide on cabinets?
« on: June 21, 2006, 04:09:06 pm »
I was wondering if there was a sort of KBB for dedicated arcade cabinets? Just so I know how rare/ $ my cabinet is. Thanx.

Your cabinet is worth what someone will give you for it.

The thing is, it could be worth quite a bit more in one part of the worth than another. Perhaps you can look it up on ebay to see what they've sold for in your neck of the woods, or across the country.

Enter cab name here:

Congratulations, your cab is worth:   whatever people are willing to spend on it.

Leapinlew nailed it... there is no way to really put prices on all but maybe the rarest of games, and even then its never set in stone.  KBB gives you a good idea of what a car is worth.... there is nothing like that for games (at least that I know of).  You can see some games go for $800 on ebay for a few weeks, then the same games are going for half that a few months later.... or double it at the right time of year.

You could just tell us what game you have and someone here will be able to give you at least an idea, but there's no way to really compile a list or else some games would read "Good Condition - $1 - $900"  since it all depends on where your are... at what time... and who sees it.   It's a lot like cars in that respect, but it seems to be a more pronounced effect with these games.

And don't ever believe what KLOV or VAPS says about rarity ...

eBay can be strange with prices at times. On MAACA recently there was a "Guess what it will go for" thread about a Joust cocktail for auction on eBay. Almost everybody guessed way over. Two of us have Joust cocktails, so we should know ... although the auction went for a little less than I thought the machine was worth, but way less than I thought it would go for with CrazyeBayBiddingWars (tm).

You can always post a price check on RGVAC and folks will let you know.

If it is a working Star Wars cockpit or a dedicated Major Havoc, then it is not rare at all and you should just sell it to me for $100.  ;D

Cheers

Here is my blue book.  ;)

If you have a Dedicated Major Havoc or a Quantum cab its worth somewhere around 3 grand in working condition. If you have a sit down Blaster cab, it's worth about 5 grand in working condition.
A Star Wars or environmental Discs of Tron around $1500.

Everything else dedicated, around 300 bucks.

Conversion working, $100 to $250.

Empty cab, $25 to $75.

There will be exceptions, but not many.

If you are price cruisin, you can check out auction results. They are kind of hit and miss  though, but you can establish a rough price range.

I remember another site that had text lists of every game that sold, but I can't remember that link.
