Yeah, it'll work. I use a USB converter to play with the pad hacks I make out of PSX controllers. My opinion on everything I've ever tried store bought, is that it's crap, however, so I can't help you on that end.

Random tidbit...

I have had two of these http://www.massystems.com/ProStick.html for my PSX for ages, though they were half what they cost now when I got them.

I recently found these to connect them to my pc: http://www.levelsix.com/products/playstation/PSXPC_Adapter.shtml. I am so so down with them. I have two of them and they work great with emulators (though I haven't tried MMM).
