Chopper I/Dark Adventure rehab
« on: June 12, 2006, 11:35:08 pm »
Pics to come (my wife went on vacation with the cam).

Picked up from a garage sale for $20 this weekend: A Chopper I cab that used to be a Dark Adventure Cab. Decent condition. Monitor is shot, tho.
Owner said it died recently. Investigation shows a crack on the board that ties into the monitor, so I junked the monitor (I don't know enough about monitors to tell if that's a fixable cure/only problem).

I pulled the control panel off to reveal a nice piano hinge setup that likely could make swapping in a new panel easy. The back side revealed holes from the original Dark Adventure 3-player setup. Clearly a new panel was placed on top and then bore to Chopper I specs.

Only problem with the panel is that it is 28 inches max and I want to do the standard 2P, 6 buttons, Trackball in middle route, so I may need to add a larger panel.

Is there a standard size for such a setup? Say 32 inches?

Fitting my 21 inch computer monitor in the cab also be a prob due to the cut (the monitor sat at an angle), although I may be able to fit it in once I shell the computer monitor and cage it in place.

Does anyone know about Chopper I? Dark Adventure? I believe the board for Chopper is still usable....

Any input appreciated.

-Tony
