How do I wire special function keys with an Ipac2?
« on: June 06, 2006, 06:37:17 pm »
How would I go about wiring a button to be a special function using an Ipac2?  If the function I want to wire is a shifted function, can I just make the button wire into the "shift" key and the other key at the same time?

Thanks!

No.
It requires a timing circuit to allow the shift key time to activate before the second key signals as depressed.

Somebody posted the circuit awhile back.
I'm not sure if it's posted on the Ultimarc website, or not.

I get asked this question quite often and in almost every case the user has overlooked that you can simply wire a button into any spare input on the I-PAC and program this input with the appropriate keycode. Just thought I would point this out in case...
If you don't have any spare connections, I have the full details of you can drop me an email andy@ultimarc.com

This may not be the way you will want to go about providing special function keys on your Arcade cabinet, but check out this post.

Basically,, with the help of another poster, i was able to locate a 16 key USB keyboard (The link to the company that makes it is in the post thread!) that I can program any key, or key combo into so that i can get dedicated functions! Read the rest of the post thread, as i dont want to be too redundant in this post. . .
