First cabinet -unknown theme
« on: June 05, 2006, 07:46:39 am »
First of all i would like to thank all who post here as i would have never had the guts to go through some of this blind. I have been lurking every day getting info and tips to make this a fun hobby. I have a 9 month old baby so free time is hard to come by so i ordered and got Slikstik CO2 panel. Wanted to build my own but i wanted to get a jumpstart on the cabinet. I had a free day over the weekend and decided to take the woodworking plunge. I was working off of UA II plans and from first cut to last cut took 7 hours. Not so bad on a nice day. Ill start posting pics if i can figure that out sometime hah. Thanks again for everyone's posting and help.

hey, I also have a nine-month old baby! (well, she will be on the 16th)

Anyhow, good luck on the project. I know what you're saying about not having a lot of free time. We'll look forward to the pictures.

I have a 9 month old baby so free time is hard to come by...

No sympathy here! I have 4 kids (with #5 on the way) and my oldest is 6 years old...I built my cab in 3 weeks.  Needless to say, I think my family felt pretty neglected for those 3 weeks, but they are reaping the rewards now.  My kids love it!  My wife also was much more understanding than usual during those 3 weeks...I'm still trying to figure that one out.  ???  I guess she just knew how excited I was.  ;D

Try two teenagers, both demanding rides, homework assistance, and no desire to help around the house.  They want the cab, but don't want to help.  This is definitely a "dad" thing.

One thing I'm doing this time around is making sure to not neglect my wife & kids.  Although I'm spending a lot of time on the project, I'm spending more time than usual with my family.  This has definitely helped all parties involved.

Regarding the pics, you also want to reduce the picture size to around 5x7" or somewhere around 50k filesize or less.  Most all graphics programs provide a way to reduce the picture size.  You may also want to use the programs "crop" tool.  This allows you to cut out portions of the picture that don't add value to the story.

have those teenagers "earn" rights to play it. X amount of tokens per chore should do the trick  ;)
