mamewah and catver.ini
« on: May 03, 2006, 11:57:48 pm »
I can't get my catver.ini file to work with mamewah.  If my catver file is for mame version .99 will it work with .105?

Yes but obviously newly added games will not have any category info.  Point to catver.ini in your (mamewah) mame.ini file, and ensure you generate the list *after* this.

I pointed the (mamewah) mame.ini to the catver.ini file.  Then I "re-generated" the main list.  I did research this but couldn't find anything to help me.  My catver.ini is in my mame folder.

Sounds like you did everything right....maybe post your (mamewah) mame.ini file...

Could it be that this should be pointing to your MAME roms folder??

No. I know it's weird but I was having problems with zinc and it didn't like having it's rom folder outside of it's directory.  Mame accesses those roms fine.  I found a different version of catver.ini and I'm going to try it when I have a chance.  Thanks for looking at my mame.ini Minwah

No problem, it looks fine apart from the unusual rom path.

I had this problem too.  In (version 1.61) the 'files' subdirectory, for some reason all of the files that ended in .ftr were empty.  I deleted the one that ended in -0.ftr (filtered list) and did a generate list, then I got my catver information again.  If I remember correctly all of the .ftr files were blank, so I may have deleted them all.

Well I now have the option to sort by category but now mamewah lists the rom names and not the game names   :(.  I changed the list generation method to rom_folder and then changed it back to rom_folder_vs_listxml but mamewah still just lists the rom name and not the "game name".  I have re-generated the main list but nothing has helped.

I'd suggest you delete everything in the 'files' folder and try again.  Make sure you have xml2info.exe in your mame folder.

I ended up downloading a .dat file for mame 105 and then changing the list generation method to rom_folder_vs_dat_file.  That seems to have solved it.  I think my original problem was my version of catver.ini.  The one that worked for me was from www.catver.com.
