LED buttons - whcih ones ?
« on: May 16, 2006, 05:55:01 am »
Hello,

Decided to look into the led-wiz button lighting thing - I was drawn to the attract videos that people have posted like a moth to a candle !

Anyway, I wondered if anyone had an opinion on whether it is best to go for :

I'm based in the UK so I'm tempted to go for the gremlinsolutions buttons as they seem reasonably priced and also come with leds already. The ones from ggg could be added to my led-wiz order but I need to buy the buttons, cherry switches and leds seperately.

Does one of the options produce a superior lighting effect ?

EDIT *** Just noticed that gremlin also do a clear button. I presume the led that comes with them is a white led ? Please comment if you have purchased any translucent buttons from gremlin - TA !

Thanks for reading,

Buks

by the pictures/ videos i seen + what i heard
the ggg "electric ice buttons" + rgb drive ( can be included with buttons)
at $6.50 is gonna give you the best quality light
+ theyre easy to install with your ledwiz
the translucent buttons dont really blend the light over the button as much as the electric ice buttons
i'd say go with ggg if u not on a tight budget
Do not play silly games with your tag lines - it irritates saint.

Thanks for the reply freddy. So if I go for the ggg buttons + "rgb drive" does that mean it includes the led, microswitch  and resistors ? Or if it doesn't include a resistor does that mean I don't need one ? I only ask because the gremlinsolutions buttons come with an led AND resistor.

Cheers,

Buks

oops  - just went to the ggg website and spotted the rgb drive thing. It does include everything I need although I'm not sure if I want multi coloured leds..... I need to sit down with a claculator and curency convertor and work out what is the cheapest. If I have to order the led-wiz from the US anyway then I may as well buy the buttons from there too. But then again I like the translucent buttons as they have some colour even when the machine is off. Not that I just stare at my machine when its not in use ....  :-[ lol
