Armed Switches...

BobA:

If you can get the cover alone you should be able to substitute a toggle switch with any action you need.  In the pic I posted it looked like the cover was separate so any standard size toggle would work with it.

Wow the resources this board provides are simply amazing!
Thanks guys I just need to find a way to use something momentary with one of those covers... But this has me thinking, wouldnt this make a kick @$$ enable/disable switch for a mod chip on an xbox?

Check out this catalog in Acrobat Reader format:

They have a switch/button that requires inserting and turning a key.  They always have to use those things to fire nuclear missiles or open important vaults in the movies.  Better yet, put one on each side of your cab and have two people wear the keys around their necks at all times so it can't be turned on without both of your consent.   ;)

Try Mouser, Digi-Key, MCM electronics, or maybe (maybe) Parts Express

The above 3 are pro electronics supply houses, very fast and reliable.  You can also get their (better) paper catalogs quite easily, though once you start you may never get them to stop :)

PE is more geared to audio/car audio DIY types, but may have those switches (we normally called them safety switches).  You can also try to find an electronics supply house locally, something more in-depth than a Radio Shack (though RS may have them, just about every switch I ever got from them has been cheap and wore out/broke very quickly).  PE is also very very quick and very reliable.

BTW: hello, I'm new here.  My apologies if I'm posting info that's common knowledge.  I'm still immersed in the FAQs, and trying to read through all the forums at the same time.
