Depending on your set up, you may want coin buttons.  If you have a coin door, this may not be an issue.

You can get the parts from Happcontrols.com, but I'd recommend getting them from some of the Happ distributors here in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum such as PonyBoy and divemaster.  They both can get you better prices than Happ, and are great to deal with.

You can also go with Electric Ice buttons from Groovygamegear.com if you want the option of using RGB leds to change the colors, and an LED wiz to take care of controlling all those LEDs.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

What is the spinner for? I was also thinking about a ded 4 way with two to four buttons above the track ball, what do you guys think? Also on project arcadeus there are these really nice neon lit buttons what are those called and where can i get some?

The spinner is for....spinner games!! Tempest, Arkanoid/Pong, Warlords, Tron, and many others.

I would not advise putting a joystick directly above the trackball, as you will crush you hand when playing games like marble madness and Golden Tee.  Just move it off to the side a bit and you should be fine.  :)

Oh and probably the best piece of advice you will get...  obtain some stiff cardboard and cut out a 'mock' control panel, and mount your controls on it in various layouts.  Then try it out.  That's really the only way you will arrive at a control panel layout that works best for you.

GroovyGameGear sells ElectricICE buttons which can be lit any color you wish with RGB LEDs (they're pearl colored when unlit). Your other option would be Happ Translucent buttons with LEDs. Do a search and you'll find lots of info on blinky buttons.

And I'll second ahofle's suggestion that a mock-up for your cp is crucial.

I've seen this comment to move the joystick/spinner away from the front of the trackball many times and I've always wondered about the buttons.  Are three mouse buttons in front of the trackball going to be in the way or are they just too low.

I think it depends how far back they are from the trackball. I have buttons about 6 inches behind mine, I have no problems but if I were you, I'd make a mockup first.
I had to beat them to death with their own shoes...
