Mame (tm) Invaders-- MODULE 8!
« on: April 23, 2006, 12:56:47 pm »
OK, yes I'm a bit possessed....and yes, I'm having a ton of fun building module after module!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present Module 8!--

MS. PAC DEDICATED 4 WAY

I was playing Ms. Pac Man on my cocktail a few weeks ago...I was doing pretty well....then I got stuck and died (last man).

I sat there starting at my machine and decided that I was only fooling myself....an 8 way joystick simply isn't up to playing 4 way games properly.

That Monday I was on for sale/trade here and what did I see?-- an ad by Quarterback for a modified Ms. Pac Reunion using a real Wico Joystick Handle.

Quaterback cleverly adjust the depth of the handle to work with the Ms. Pac Reunion base by using some plastic washers he picked up at Lowe's. As you can see he used 3 thin and one slightly thicker one to come up with the right depth for a wood panel install (the real Ms. Pac Reunion Joystick handle is too short).

Long story short....I took apart another XAracade and put in the new joystick (for those of you playing at home, this required no wood working at all, it's a perfect replacement for the XArcade joystick).

As you can see I eliminated the XArcade art using a CPO generic overlay and now I have a great dedicated 4 way.

I have to say....there's nothing like the right tools for the job.

Enjoy the pics!
Seriously. Will it fit in my basement or what?
