I've also asked for Dynamo cut corner cab plans, but to date, nobody seems to have them.  Maybe they are so common that most people just find one to convert.

I think I mentioned this in another thread, I have a Dynamo cut-corner cabinet.... I've never made plans from something in my life, though.

I'll take some new pictures keeping dimensions in mind, if you'd like, you know, front, side, etc.

As far as I know, all the plans at Jakobud's are dedicated cabinets.  None of them are cut corner Dynamos.

Mine looks pretty much the same except it doesn't have that type of control panel on it. I assume this would be the source of the "cut corner" name.

I'm not a drafting guru by a long shot, but I can take measurements if you let me know what you need me to do.

I have one that I got a few months ago.  I owe someone on another board photos and measurements but I have been so busy the last while that I have not even touched my cabinet since I picked it up.

I think I will get to it in about 3 weeks when the tempo starts to ease up a bit.  I will then take lots of measurements and photos and post them here.

Hope that 3 weeks isn't too much to wait.

OK -- to be clear, I do not have a Dynamo (so really my comments belong ouside of this thread), I was just wondering above who I owe measurements to and what it was for (completely unrelated to this thread).

I guess my cabinet is slightly different.  From the rear view, it looks like you are looking for the Z-back dynamo.  I have a flat back on mine.  I made another power point slide to reflect that.  Oh, it's also in inches.  Don't forget to convert, otherwise your cab might burn up in Mars' atmosphere or something.   :P

Oops, I can't attach the .ppt file.  pm me your e-mail and I'll send it out to you.

I would think that you could adapt the measurements taken by Gibbous to be the style of cabinet you want. Just combine the two overlapping side panels and adjust everything between to be the same width as the control panel. Or get Stingray to measure his since the sidepanels are the same as the one you want.

I think everyone just takes these cabinets for granted. I'd think they'd be great since they were made to do conversions and be easily serviced. As we've seen there are several variations as well. Check out the flyer for Ikari III. It looks to be identical to Stingray's except for the metal panel.

Here's the Ikari Flyer and a Dynamo flyer which has the finished dimensions:

yeah i think i may have to do that.... im suprised though that everyone seems to hav these cabinets in the US, but getting someone to measure up the plans would be so hard...
... i appreciate all your help guys.... but the quest for a cabinet to be measured (not mish-mashed together) still goes on...

I await anyones help...

once I do get the plans I post them up...

Re: Dynamo Cabinet Plans

I think part of the problem is that there isn't a specific cut-corner cabinet. Dynamo made these for a number of years and seems to have made MANY variations along the way.

I figured the hardest/most expensive part of recreating a Dynamo cab would be the metal control panel itself. If you wanted to fabricate an exact replica, you'll need to have steel plates welded at weird angles. The funky angles would even make this difficult to do with wood. This probably leaves you buying an existing panel. Here's one off of eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-CONTROL-PANEL-4-Arcade-Game-Street-Fighter-2-Layout_W0QQitemZ6285840894QQcategoryZ13716QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It looks fine, but if you notice he states that it's 23 7/8" across. The cabinet width on the flyer I posted was 28" wide for the 19" versions. Many of the Dynamo panels I've seen listed on eBay were about 26 1/2" (including the Champion Edition panel). Also, due to the size shipping costs are high even within the US. Here's another bit of weirdness:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Large-arcade-game-control-panel-for-mame-or-Dynamo-HS5_W0QQitemZ6208747944QQcategoryZ13718QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's for the HS-5 25" version, but obviously it's a VERY different type of control panel.

I guess my point is that they were designed to be generic and adaptable to different types of games. On top of this, there weren't that many dedicated games that came in them and even those (such as SFII:CE) usually ended up getting converted into some other game. This can make it difficult to identify exactly which version of the cabinet someone has.  A local laundromat used to have Deer Hunting USA in an old CE cabinet. I only know that because they were lazy and put the orange overlay over the speckled CE overlay. I'm sure there are at least a couple people on these boards that have a CE cabinet, but it may come down to how patient you are to wait for them. I'm guessing you're holding out for a CE cabinet, but even the picture you posted is different than any I've ever seen (which were black).
Brevity is not my strong suit.

I see where your coming from and that the excate cabinet would be impossible, its the style im after. Once I have one plan from any of the size models I can create it to any size, its just getting a plan of a model. As to the control panel thats not difficult as a good friend is a metal fabricator and can make it in no time...
but thanks for your reply

as stated before i'll just have to wait for someone to post there plans  ::)

I have a dynamo cab like this:
http://www.horrorcoregames.com/pics/cabinet1.jpg

I think the guy that sold it to me called it a domino cab or something whatever that means.  If you want I will try and get the dimensions tonight when i get home.  i need to get the digital camera back from my sister for decent other pics though.

Is this the type of cab you are looking for?  I know it doesn't look exactly like the pictures you posted but gibbous mentioned you were looking for a z-back and that kinda describes what I have.  I downloaded your plans and it looks like a flat back to me though, at least in the jpgs.  I don't have powerpoint installed so I couldn't view the ppt file.

Btw, excuse the mess and bad pic.  Doing construction in the room right now so there's dust everywhere and not a lot of space to move around so that shot was all I could get.

I wonder if that 28" wide claim for the 19" HS-1 cabinet from the flyer you posted is correct. It wouldn't seem so. I have a 19" cut-corner Dynamo cabinet, which I assume is an HS-1 (no sliding drawer like the HS-2); it is a dedicated Victory Road machine, and it is 25 7/16" wide x 72 9/16" tall (from the floor ... 72 1/4" for the height of the side panel itself). The control panel is 23 11/16" wide. The machine looks identical to the HS-1 and HS-2 pictures from the flyers you posted. Maybe that flyer is giving crated/shipping dimensions? I would be very surprised if there was any such thing as a 28" wide x 75" tall cut-corner Dynamo for a 19" monitor. It also claims the weight of the 19" versions to be 300 pounds. I doubt that as well, though I could see it weighing that much in shipping form.
