Flight stick wiring question, need assistance in identifying wires.

Hi all,

One more newbie question if you don't mind.

I received my Flightstick from Slikstik,  which I believe is a Happs Heavy Duty Analog Trigger Stick.  My problem is that the wires running from the Flightstick aren't labeled,  and could use a hand figuring out which is which.

The wires are Red,  Yellow,  White,  and Black.  I'm assuming that in this case Red != power,  and that Black is Ground.  Does anyone know offhand what color wire corresponds to which button?  There are 3 buttons for this stick.

Tried asking on Slikstik's forum,  but no answer yet,  and I'm assembling my panel tomorrow.

If I had to guess, black is ground, red is trigger, white is button 2 and yellow is button 3.
There would be no power necessary because they are mechanical switches.  Just hook them up to an IPAC or a meter and test them.  There is no harm if you plug them in wrong because they are just switches.  You should also have separate wires coming out of each pot.

So,  there wouldn't be a problem with my running the wires into my Ipac now before it's installed to identify which is which?  It's not grounded out by the screws is it?

Or would I be better served by just doing the build and leaving it open while I test so I can be sure which wire is which?

You should ID the wires before you install it.  There are no ground issues.  The IPAC sees a key press when the an input goes low (is grounded).  Pressing the buttons on the stick grounds the corresponding colored wire which fires a key press on the IPAC.
