I'm the only guy in my circle of non-techie friends who has done something like this. I've had more then a couple people ask me if they could buy one and they also said they knew other people that would buy one. They say this like I should be pumping these things out and making a ton of cash. When I tell them the cost would be probably near $2,000 they usually come up with a look of shock and a "well, it's nice, but not for that kind of money" look. They do this even though I just got done telling them there is a full computer and monitor setup in the cabinet, and controls aren't exactly inexpensive either.

So...yeah... it's probably considered a crazy hobby. My friends will think nothing of spending $100 a week on beer...
