Best classic ever

Haven't seen a thread dealing with that issue.
Just thought it would be nice to get some views on it.

I know there are probably other games that should be listed here, but I tried to converge (objectively...)

Let me be the first of many to say that your list is grossly incomplete.  Where's Robotron, Donkey Kong, Joust, Gauntlet, Street Fighter II, Elevator Action, etc. etc. etc.

And I'm just a kid, at 27.  The 40 year-olds on the board are really going to let you have it.  :P

I can't believe pacman is winning!  It may be the most recognized classic, but the other classics have better gameplay.

Any list that doesn't even have one vector is illegal by nature.

Tempest.

If it's not Star Wars then it might be Tempest.  I thought for about a minute about which one to say and the two choices were Star Wars and Tempest.  When it comes down to it, I like Star Wars better because it is so much like what we would imagine being Luke going through that trench, from the graphics looking like the targeting computer to the best arcade controller ever.

Yeah, but I'm better at Tempest than I am at Star Wars. In my personal ranking system, that makes Tempest a better game. ;)
