Formica! :D
« on: February 04, 2003, 12:08:51 am »
Well I am one happy puppy, I'm finally going to be doing some much delayed work on converting that monstrous cab I've got.

Now I've decided that what I'd like to do is make a new CP with formica laminate on it, and I've found a place where I can buy the stuff in pretty much any color and size I like, but I don't know how to cut it or route the edges flush. Anyone know of a tutorial out there with pix? That would help me ever so much.

well dude..very easy..you go to your local hardware and ask them for the best "PLEXI GLASS CUTTER" they have and you score the formica couple of times then snap it..ITS REALLY easy...of course ask them for the best one..

Here i have a picture of laminate cut using plexi glass cutter..

Using a router is a much MUCH better solution.
Here's a quick overview... Its no harder than it looks.

If you build a frankenpanel, chances are I don't care for you as a person.

Gotta agree with the router bit, its hard to go around corners without one. With the router its zip zip, you're ready to go to the mall (very obscure 70's show refrence)
