FS: Mame machine in Tennessee/Nashville Area
« on: September 01, 2008, 01:26:33 pm »
I am posting to see if anyone would be interested in either purchasing this full machine or maybe having me part it out.
I built it a couple years ago and I am planning a move in the next 6 months so I have to get rid of it by then.

Here is a picture right before it was completed and I can take more if necessary.

Let me know if there is any interest and we can discuss price.

The monitor is a Betson 27" (http://www.betson.com/products/IMP-44-4070-RT)

The PC is a custom build AMD Sempron 3000+ with 2gb of RAM. It has the IPAC-2 that controls all the input from the controls. It also has the ArcadeVGA card from Ultimarc to ensure the resolutions are compatible with the Betson monitor. It has a 10gb hard drive and a 70gb hard drive as well.

It has a working light up coin door that is rigged up to accept credits when you insert a token.

It is turned on and off by a switch on top of the machine that is wired directly to the PC motherboard to ensure a smooth shut down in conjunction with the "Smart" power strip that automatically powers down the rest of components. It has a logitech 2.1 sound system with external audio controls.

There are two bad things about the machine... 1st bad thing is that I'm not very good at painting so there is a bit of contamination but the machine could easily be sanded and repainted to correct this.
2nd bad thing is the monitor has a red hue at the very bottom left corner. It's not very noticeable and goes away after it has warmed up for a bit but I did want to mention it.

Everything else is great and I haven't used the system much at all over the last few years so it's basically brand new.

I did mount wheels to the bottom so you can easily roll it across carpet.

I will be wiping the hard drive so you will have to have your own OS, ROMS, emulator, etc to load on there.

I am hoping to get $2,000 for it as that is how much it cost to build the machine. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Here are some additional pictures I took:

Eesh. I doubt anyone not local would be seriously interested, mainly because mame cab resale isn't great.

It's probably a long shot but the price is negotiable.

How negotiable is the price?  I am not trying to thread crap.  I could buy this cabinet:  http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=83449.0  and have it shipped to my door for less than $1100.  $2000 seems really high.

Wow that seems ridiculously cheap. I mean the monitor alone is $600? I'm willing to go as low as $1500 to get rid of this thing if that makes it anymore attractive.

BASS!

You could get $2400 easy on Craigslist. I say sell it and sit on it for a bit, put that all powerfull, "similar machines sell for much more" and post for dreamarcades. Take more photos and post them on a photobucket, repost your post every day and make sure you list a phone number.

Thanks for the advice... I don't have to sell it right away as we aren't moving for 6 months or so. I will give it a shot!

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

For that asking price, you want to advertise as much as you can during these six months. You can get it, just not here.

Good point Ginsu. I am looking for another cab to put my NAMCO boards in. I can get a fully functional machine at the auction for $275.00 in Oct so I will wait for that
