Lighting Up!
« on: January 28, 2003, 02:23:44 pm »
Hi all,

Pretty new to all the cabinet and controls stuff.  I'm very near to completing my arcade cabinet and just have the control panel to finish.  The buttons I will use on the CP are translucent green std arcade style (with leaf switches), which will lend themselves very well to be back illuminated.  My question is regarding versions of MAME or other emulators and whether they provide output to the K/B LED's for flashing when on 1 or 2 player select etc.

If anyone can tell me if any emulators do have this feature I will design this into the panel before I start building it.

Just to add as well,  the whole cabinet thing hasn't really taken off over here yet in the UK so finding this forum was a lucky move.   I've not read through the rest of the postings yet but they seem packed with valuable info.

Many Thanks,

TMAN

Hmm, you haven't read much of this site yet. Shame on you! Go read the Faq!

Just kidding, sort of... There really is a ton of good information in the faq including the answer to your question.  Some emulators do support this feature, expecially the atari roms in mame. Even if the emulators support it not all games had this as a feature so only those games that did will take advantage of it. Their is a keyboard encoder that supports the keyboard LED's and there are other less easy ways to get them to work. The chap that is selling this particular keyboard encoder is in the UK. Go check him out- http://www.ultimarc.com

My statements are my own opinions. They have the value that the reader gives them. My opinion of my opinion varies between foolish and brilliant and these opinions often change with new information.

Thanks eightbit.  I have only just stumbled on the site really, so haven't read much yet.  Thanks for the link, I'll check it out (and I'll read the FAQ!!!).
