I lived in Salem for nearly a decade, graudated from Salem High... and there is another BYOAC member who lives in Salem right now.

I imagine Halloween is always that crazy there. I never imagined the whole city being packed, and secured for foot traffic only though.

Pretty cool. I'm definitely going next year. I bet you may be sick of it though.

Salem is very one sided... all funds and efforts go to tourism.  The school system is pathetic, the nontourist areas are crumbling, and it has only become more one sided over the last decade.  It looks like a great place if you stay in the areas with restaurants and museums, but if you go to the residential areas, you will see an immediate change in the condition of roads and buildings.

Logically, the residents tend to have quite a bit of resentment towards the tourists.

When my brother was in middle school in the mid 90s, they weren't even allowed to take their textbooks home.  The books were so falling apart, and they had no money for more, that the school decided it better to not give homework to grades 6-8 for a full year than to risk losing the books.

That same year, the town built a new parking garage downtown for tourists and didn't charge a dime to park in it.

Half the people I graduated HS with were barely literate and the dropout rate was astounding.

This is the party I went to.

B96 Halloween Bash

This is the email I used to login:

john@maroon.com

It's not a real email(not to me anyway), so don't bother sending my Viagra emails.  If for some reason they catch on and block it, you can create a new user without using a real email, they won't send a notification.

My photos didn't make the site, but you can tell what costumes the webmaster was looking for.

Chad, I remember a while back *I think* I read that you lived in NS. How old were you when you moved to MA?

I always bounced back and forth between MA and NS but started living primarily in MA as an early teen.

Well, my wife vetoed my quicky costume idea.

I found an old Winnie-the-Pooh costume we had laying around (the full body kind).  Took an old E-Collar one of our dogs wore when he had surgery, stuck it around Pooh's neck, and wrapped bandages around Pooh's crotch.

I never even made it out the door.

At least Bob Barker would've been proud of me.

But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

The e-collar is something used to keep animals from biting at body parts, i.e. after surgery.  Looks like this:

Add the bandaged crotch...

Man, I guess if noone is getting the joke I was better off not wearing it.  I'da probably looked like pedophile pooh or something.

Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking with the bandages, that someone (oh, maybe, could it be maybe eeyore, [church lady voice]or maybe.......SATAN![/church lady voice]) had done Pooh bear so badly that he needed bandges. Kinda like a gang-bang thing.

Yeah, Good thing you turfed the idea.... ;)

Here's the "costume" I've worn for years.  The kids either actually love it, or are kind enough not to make open fun of me while I have it on.

Sorry about the photoshop'd sweatshirt...
