Coin Door - Working/Not Working
« on: November 01, 2005, 11:07:11 am »
I wired up my coin door this weekend (2 coin quarter mechs) and to my great joy and surprise it was working beautifully without any tweaks or issues. I even got the lights hooked up with no problems (until one burned out within 15 minutes, dammit!). I then found out that the coin door works for some games but not for others. It seems to work with the older games and not for the newer ones. I tried manually clicking the microswitches and even that doesn't help with the games that it hates. Isn't anything in this hobby easy?
I've got a fever...

Some games have algorythms built-into the game program as to how long the coin switch is held down (thinking you are trying a quarter on a string). You have to click the coin switch fast as if a real quarter is falling on it.

Of course if you have a Coin Controls coin door with the blue colored coin switches, those go bad internally causing erratic coin signals.
