Help with AtomicFE
« on: September 11, 2005, 01:14:34 pm »
I used AtomicFE on one computer and it worked fine, but when I tried it on another computer I set everything up but when the program started the screen is completely black. I can hear the background music and when I hit up and down I hear the sound effects. It almost seems like the layout is messed up, but I am using the default nuss space layout. I cant figure it out. Hope someone can help, thanks a lot.

Hi,

I answered you by mail  (i think you sent me a mail?)  , but my response is come back with a "mail delivery failure".

I don't know what happens.  I would say a problem of memory on the video card. But it is strange  i don't use lot of video card memory.

do you have , the same problem with all layout? Did you try another layout?   Try one "Zarouk" which are more simple just to see if it works.

On what OS are you?    Try to configure your OS to use a 16bit/pixel mode.

Let me know , if something change.

Thanks

Youki

Thanks a lot for answering, sorry about my E-mail that's AOL for ya. So first I tried the jukebox layout and it was still black, then I tried a layout from Zarouk and it worked. I also changed to 16 bit. But I am still not sure why the other layouts aren't working. I am running Windows XP and I don't know too much about video cards but I think I have an Intel 82810E Graphics Controller but I could be totally wrong.

I saw than on certain video card  , DirectX works strangly.  If you are in 24 bit/pixel mode , Atomic should commute in 16/bit pixel  automatically.  But on certain video card , it commute and seems to work but the screen stays blacK.

To solve that, you have to change the desktop to 16bit/color before running Atomic.

On certain OS , like windows me for instance, if you don't switch to 16/bit color before running Atomic, Atomic Crash.???  :-[  If you change the color depth before it works.

I saw few case of that.  But in a general way you would have to do that. It is still a window mystery.

When the jukebox layout was black , you was already in 16/bit/pixel?.
